Joel C. Kahane Scholar Award

 Dr. Kahane served the UofM and our program for over 40 years before retiring at the end of January 2015.  He has achieved national and international acclaim for his research in the area of the vocal mechanism.  He received the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University in 1994 and has presented many named distinguished lectures, as well as receiving many of the highest awards bestowed by the professional and medical communities. He has received the Editor's Award from the Journal of Speech-Language and Hearing Research twice.

To honor his service to our School, we are creating a special award to be given to a student with interest in medical speech pathology as funds are available.
