Purpose and Mission: Driving Forward a Caring Agenda
The overriding purpose of the Office of Community Partnerships and Practice (OCPP) in the Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON) is to serve as a nexus between the academic institution and all domains of nursing practice. In launching our initiatives, we are committed to fully supporting LCON’s mission to produce nurse leaders, scholars, and innovative researchers and its vision to create transformative leaders in nursing education, practice, and science.
Our compelling mission is to create, foster, and fine-tune academic-practice partnerships and opportunities to ensure that we train and produce nurse leaders prepared to engage in a highly complex healthcare system. We aim to foster innovation, wellness, and healing for our community and society through nursing practice and clinical practice scholarship.
The Heartbeat of the Community: Implementation of the Nursing Clinic
In line with our mission, implementing a nurse-run clinic within the college premises
is another milestone effort. This initiative provides undergraduate and graduate students
with hands-on training, faculty practice opportunities, and clinical scholarship in
nursing practice while simultaneously catering to the health needs of our local community,
thereby further cultivating our community partnerships.
Partnerships
We underscore the importance of maintaining critical hospital and community partnerships and affiliations. Hospitals provide our nursing students invaluable practice experiences while clinics, private practices, academic settings, and preceptors further enrich experiences for our students.

Faculty Practice
We commit to creating and maintaining a well-defined and fully integrated faculty practice. The participatory involvement of faculty in active clinical practice
is central to the success of a practice profession in academia. By clearly defining and integrating faculty practice as a central tenant to the academic role, we lay a firm foundation for clinical practice excellence for our community of interest.
Community Clinic
We realize the importance of the healthcare needs of our community and the impact
of basic and advanced nursing care on healthcare outcomes. Establishing a nurse-run, faculty-led healthcare clinic within
the LCON will provide transformational practice and learning experiences for faculty and students.
Compliance
We prioritize compliance with academic regulations and accreditation regulations in partnership with the Office of Academic Affairs and those associated with patient-centered care in a modern health care practice site. Adherence to professional standards and guidelines is integral for maintaining high-quality programs and providing top-notch care, thereby instilling confidence in and providing evidence to our stakeholders and community of interest.
