What is Marketing & Supply Chain Management?

MARKETING:

Many people think that marketing means personal selling. Others think that it means advertising. Still other believe marketing has to do with making product available in stores, arranging displays and maintaining inventories of products for future sales. Actually, marketing includes all of these activities and more. Marketing is the activity, set of institutions and processes for creating, communicating, delivering and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners and society at large.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT:

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the coordination of all activities that turn raw materials into finished goods and deliver them to customers. It involves managing the flow of goods, data and finances related to a product or service, from the procurement of raw materials to the delivery of the product at its final destination.

The goal of SCM is to improve efficiency, quality, productivity and customer satisfaction. It can help companies lower operational expenses, gain more profit, improve corporate brand recognition and improve customer service.
