Biography

Srikar Velichety received his PhD from the Eller College of Management, University of Arizona. His research interests are in business and big data analytics with a focus on developing and applying social network analysis, econometrics, and data mining methods in Online Communities and Social Media. His research demonstrates ways to tackle problems where there is very little social science or economic theory but a large diverse dataset is available. His research has been published in major information systems and interdisciplinary journals including JMIS, JAIS, IJIM, ACM SIGMISDB, and all major Information Systems and Computer Science conferences including ICIS, INFORMS, and WWW. One of his articles was nominated for the Best Conference Paper at the Workshop on Information Technology and Systems (WITS) in Milan, Italy. In addition, Dr. Velichety has generated over 75,000 USD in research grants from organizations like FedEx. His research was presented at organizations such as Walmart and International Paper. 

During his time at the University of Arizona, Dr. Velichety developed and taught various undergraduate and graduate-level courses on operations management, information systems, and business and social media analytics. In 2022, he was a part of a large-scale federal grant that was awarded 21.5 million USD from the US Department of Commerce to train the workforce for Good Paying Jobs in the logistics and technology industry in the Memphis Metropolitan Region. In addition, he has taught executive courses in Cybersecurity Management.
