UofM to hold commencement Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Liberty Bowl
The University of Memphis will recognize graduates from spring, summer and fall 2020 with three commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Nov. 28, at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

UofM Lambuth's Adam Johnson appointed President of Tennessee Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers
University of Memphis Lambuth assistant director of recruitment and enrollment services Adam Johnson has been appointed president elect of the Tennessee Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO). Johnson's term as president will be three years.

Anonymous donation allows Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law to establish Edward R. Askew Diversity Scholarship
Thanks to a recent anonymously donated gift, the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law has established a diversity scholarship in the memory of Edward R. Askew, one of only two Black students in the first integrated graduating class at Memphis’ East High School in 1969.

UofM moves forward with additional student housing development for Park Avenue Campus
The University of Memphis is moving forward with an additional student housing development on its Park Avenue Campus master plan, which has already seen investment of $107 million since 2015. Despite an uncertain economic period, enrollment at the UofM remains strong. As the UofM continues to pursue its Deloach Street housing development, the UofM recognizes there is a need to better support its student-athletes as well as UofM students in the nursing and health programs with a housing development on the Park Avenue Campus.

UofM’s Joanna Curtis honored as Outstanding Fundraising Executive
University of Memphis chief advancement officer Joanna Curtis has received the Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Memphis Chapter as part of its 2020 Crystal Awards. The chapter will hold a virtual professional development conference and present the Crystal Awards on Thursday in celebration of National Philanthropy Day.

FedEx Institute of Technology and Epicenter launch first of six new deep science startups
Nuvelus Inc., an innovative biotechnology company that seeks to heal and transform damaged skin caused by inflammation, disease and environmental stress is dedicated to building a novel solution to treat the body’s largest organ – the skin. Nuvelus is the first startup to come out of the University of Memphis FedEx Institute of Technology and Epicenter’s joint Patents2Products (P2P) Program and, over the next year, five more companies will be launched as part of this initiative.
West Cancer Foundation and University of Memphis form research initiative to address health disparities
West Cancer Foundation and the University of Memphis Division of Research and Innovation are proud to announce the formation of a new research initiative. Established in the fall of 2020, the West Cancer Foundation Initiative was created to cultivate research across the UofM campus in areas that advance cancer treatment, promote community health and wellness and/or provide supportive patient care. The researchers are encouraged to involve partners from area community organizations and other regional institutions to further support the collective goals of the initiative.
