Dr. Allison Potter
Assistant Professor of Teaching
Biography
Assistant Professor of Teaching, Allison Potter (Realtor®, PhD) teaches in the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate (FIR). She teaches Personal Financial Management, Cases in Financial Planning, Field Experiences in Finance, and Real Estate Principles. She is also a Realtor with Crye-Leike, Memphis and uses her experiences in the local real estate market to enhance the real-world learning of her students.
Dr. Potter is on the Educational Advisory Board of the St. Louis Federal Reserve, Memphis Branch. She helps train K-12 teachers getting their license endorsement to teach the Financial Education semester required in TN high schools.
She has worked at the University of Memphis since January 2000 in other departments and centers. She worked as a researcher for the Center for Research in Educational Policy and as a business officer for the Sparks Bureau of Business and Economic Research. She has also served on committees such as the ACAD textbook/course committee and taught classes for the Helen Hardin Honors Program.
She is co-advisor for the Master of Science in Finance program and also advises for the MBA Finance Concentration and Financial Certificate Master level program.
