  • Dr. Ali was a Panelist for the SessionChallenges and Solutions for Cybersecurity for Grid Systems and AI” held at the Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure Workshop on June 10, 2024, at the FedEx Institute of Technology of the University of Memphis.
  • Dr. Ali got his invention "System and method for improving stability of grid-connected wind generator system" patented on May 21, 2024 (US Patent number: 11990752).
  • As a Co-PI, Dr. Ali received a grant of $750,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to conduct a project titled “Center: IUCRC Phase I The University of Memphis: Center for Electrified and Automated Trucking (CEAT)” for a period of 5 years (August 15, 2024, to July 31, 2029).

  • Dr. Ali attended a meeting along with other members of the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC) to discuss about cybersecurity training with the FEMA/ DHS program managers on February 20th.   • Dr. Ali was a Guest Speaker on the topic "Cyber Resilient Wind Turbine Generator Control System" at the IEEE Day held at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Bangladesh, on December 1-2, 2023.
  • Dr. Ali received a $947,476 grant from the EnVironRenewable Energy LLC Company to conduct a project titled “Development of Training Program on Renewable Energy Systems” for a period of 3 years (01/01/2024 - 12/31/2026). This project aims to design an educational experience in renewable energy implementation across solar photovoltaic (PV) energy installation, electric vehicle charging stations and infrastructure, and smart building technology. 
  • Dr. Ali’s research paper titled “Residential Load Forecasting by PSO Tuned ANFIS2 Method Considering the COVID-19 Influence" has been approved for production and accepted for publication in Frontiers in Energy Research, section Smart Grids. Dr. Ali’s former student Dr. S. M. Mahfuz Alam (Associate Professor at Dhaka University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh) coauthored the paper.
  • Dr. Ali attended the kick-off meeting for the CTG-23 project held at the University of Arkansas System on November 14, 2023. The attendees were the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)/Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Program Managers and members of the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC) including the Project Principals and Lead Course Developers. Mr. Jack O’Meara, the Lead Course Developer at the Center for Information Assurance (CfIA) of the University of Memphis, accompanied Dr. Ali at the kick-off meeting.
  • Dr. Ali received a grant of $1,000,000 from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to conduct a project titled “DHS/FEMA-CTG 23: Cybersecurity Issues with Operational Technology and Distributed Energy Resources” for a period of 3 years (September 11, 2023, to September 10, 2026).
