Biography

Sanaz Feizi is an Iranian interdisciplinary designer whose work focuses on gender-based issues, particularly women’s embodied subjectivities and experiences. Her research explores the complex interplay of socio-cultural, biomedical, and biopolitical contexts that drive self-censorship and self-surveillance, ultimately undermining individual autonomy and authority. Her design practice seeks to expose both visible and invisible forces that sustain discrimination and violence.

As part of her work, Sanaz developed the MAKE TALK Workshop, a design-driven methodology that uses dialogue and creative self-expression to challenge stigma and explore individual lived experiences. This approach has been key in addressing societal challenges through research, participatory design, and community engagement.

Sanaz has contributed to the design community as a graphic design instructor and collaborator with leading design and animation firms. Her work has earned international recognition, being published and showcased in Iran, the USA, Canada, Russia, the UK, Mexico, and Poland.

She studied Design at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, and also taught there before joining the University of Memphis as an Assistant Professor.
