Minor Requirements and Course Options

The Women’s and Gender Studies minor and coursework complements any undergraduate major! The study of gender and sexuality from an interdisciplinary perspective will expose you to new ideas and people. The program is a place to find and build community as you become a stronger thinker, writer, and communicator. Most important, it will help you better understand systems of power and oppression and prepare you to effect positive change in the world!

Youw will take 18 credit hours in the program. A total of 9 credits will come from the Core; 9 additional credits will come from the electives section. Of the 9 credits in the electives section, 3 credits must come from the Humanities category, and 3 credits must come from the Social Sciences category. 

Further Restrictions

  • A course cannot be used more than once to fulfill a requirement in the minor.
  • At least 12 of the 18 credits for the minor must be taken at the upper-division level.
  • No more than 9 credits may come from any one department.

Students will take 9 credit hours in the Core, including WGST 2100, one course in Approaches to Gender Studies, and one course in Intersectional Understanding.
