About Dr. Alcalde
Pilar Alcalde is an Associate Professor at the University of Memphis. Her research interests are varied in subject and scope but she is particularly interested in Spanish literature from the early modern to the 20th Century. Her primary area of expertise is 17th century women studies in the areas of gender, national and community building, materialism and class identities. Dr. Alcalde teaches undergraduate courses in Spanish language, literature and culture and she has taught graduate courses in the areas of the perception of women in literature, nation and literature building in Spain and Spanish Civil War literature.
