Scholarships
World Languages and Literatures Study Abroad Travel Fund
The World Languages and Literatures Study Abroad Travel Fund is a department program whereby majors in the department can have the cost of study abroad subsidized by department funds (when available). This award can be used to purchase the student's airline ticket for their study abroad program. The application form will be posted here when we are accepting applications.
Mary Pettus Thomas Memorial Scholarship
This endowed scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in World Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a declared major in World Languages, have achieved Junior standing (60 hours), have at least a 3.00 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and have a letter of support from a faculty member in the department. Students apply for the scholarship through the Tiger Scholarship Manager system, which normally has a February 1 deadline every year.
Reed C. Baskin Legacy Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in any discipline in the College of Arts and Sciences who has a minimum ACT score of 23, who lives in the Mid-South region, and who is a proven leader in the community. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and participate in fifteen hours of community service.
College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Chapter Book Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students who are enrolled full-time as juniors or seniors in the College of Arts and Sciences, and who have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
General Herbert L. Grills Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in any discipline in the College of Arts and Sciences. Freshmen with a minimum ACT of 27, and upperclassmen with a minimum GPA of 2.80 are eligible. Students must be enrolled full-time.
Huey's Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students majoring in any discipline in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students must be enrolled full-time and have proven academic merit.
Marcus Orr Humanities Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a degree in the Humanities (English, Foreign Languages, Philosophy, History, Art History, or Musicology). Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or other demonstrated potential for academic distinction. Students must be enrolled full-time.
