NSF Project
The UofM VIP program investigates how participating in VIP research experiences affects
academic outcomes and attitudes and beliefs about engineering using a combination
of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Specifically, we are interested
in how students’ grades and retention in engineering, as well as their sense of STEM
identity, self-efficacy, and mindsets, are impacted by VIP program participation.
We will use our data to contribute to research in STEM/engineering education and to
evaluate and improve program effectiveness.
