Student Financial Appeals

The University has developed the following processes for students to appeal charges applied to their accounts.

A $200 late fee is applied to student accounts that are not paid in full or enrolled in an installment payment plan by the first day of the term; this includes all students that register on or after the first day of the term. If there were unforseen circumstances that led to the late payment and/or late registration, an appeal may be submitted.  USBS staff will review and a decision will be made within 30 days.

You may appeal any citation received at the Parking Office at 120 Zach Curlin Parking Garage. For your convenience, student appeals can also be filed online in TigerPark. Student Appeals are heard by the Student Government's Association. Faculty/Staff Appeals are heard by the Faculty/Staff Appeal Committee. Visitor Appeals are heard by the Parking Office Manager.

Appeals for University Traffic Fines are processed through TigerPark on your MyMemphis Portal.

Appeals related to Residence Life financial matters must be submitted by the student within one year of the term in which the fee was made.  Appeals should be filed with the office of Residence Life by emailing housing@memphis.edu  The decision of the appeal will be emailed to the student within 1-2 weeks.

To receive a tuition and/or fee refund, appeals must be submitted by the student within one year of the term in which the fee assessment was made. There are no exceptions to this timeframe. In order to receive a refund of any amount, the student must first be withdrawn from the course(s) in question.  To learn more about how to withdrawal from a course and file an appeal, click here

If you have already withdrawn from the course and are appealing the charges remaining, please submit an appeal using the following link: Submit an Appeal

An Appeals Committee made up of multi-departmental constituents throughout campus will review each appeal and supplemental documentation to determine if the appeal will be granted or denied. Decisions made by the Appeals Committee will be considered the final decision of the University.

To further strengthen our refund policy, we encourage students to enroll in GradGuard's Tuition Insurance.  To learn more about GradGuard Tuition Insurance at https://gradguard.com/tuition/Memphis.
