TAF Requests: Software and Hardware
As faculty of the University of Memphis, you are eligible to request the Technology Access Funds to make purchases.
- The TAF should be used for direct student benefit. Items such as high technology laboratories/classrooms, appropriate network and software, computers/other equipment, and technological improvements that enhance instruction.
The procedure for TAF requests is as follows:
- Electronic TAF Requests are submitted via this website.
- Requests are compiled and reviewed by Information Technology Services.
- Requests are sent to Deans who will approve or deny them.
- Faculty are notified via email regarding a request's approval.
- ITS begins purchasing TAF requests.
- ITS will work with faculty to install software purchases in designated computer labs. This includes umApps for bring your own device (BYOD) instruction.
TAF Requesting Timeline
Software and hardware requests may be submitted at any time. Purchases are made one time a year for the upcoming academic year. Requests are processed according to the schedule below.
Requests for Upcoming Academic Year
March 8th — Deadline to enter requests
March 22nd — Requests submitted to deans/chairs for review
April 6th — ITS to begin ordering
July 31st — LSP notified of software or hardware availability
