New Student Orientation is online this summer at UofM! It is mandatory for all incoming students. New Student Orientation provides your student with information about:

• Academic advising
• Registering for classes
• Finances
• Student involvement
• Campus resources
• And much more!

After completing New Student Orientation, your student will meet with their advisor, choose their enrollment dates and register for classes. So it's important they get started early!

We encourage families to avoid completing New Student Orientation for their student. This is the first step in the transition from high school to college. Students should engage with this information to make sure they are prepared.

The MyMemphis Portal is your student’s online portal. This is where they will manage the majority of their student transactions, including:

• Viewing, accepting or declining their financial aid award
• Authorizing financial aid and/or scholarships to cover university charges
• Reviewing transfer credit
• Running a degree audit
• Updating and verifying their address, cell/mobile phone number and emergency contact information
• Finding enrollment dates
• Adding and dropping classes
• Viewing tuition and fees
• Authorizing parents and others to view their account and pay tuition and fees online.
• Setting up direct deposit for tuition and fee refunds.

The academic year calendars mark the major activity dates (class start/end dates, exam dates, and commencement) of each term and its parts. Each Academic Year begins with the Fall term and ends at the conclusion of the Summer term (Ex, Fall 2020- Summer 2021). Students wanting registration, add/drop, fee payment, etc., dates and deadlines for a particular, immediate term should review the Dates & Deadlines Calendar for that term.

Your student’s Campus Card is their campus identification card. Your student will use their Campus Card to:

• Access Meal Plans, Tiger Eat$, Flex Bucks, or Tiger Funds at our many dining locations and retail markets
• Access Tiger Eat$ or Tiger Funds at vending locations across campus
• Attend UofM Athletic events
• Enter residence halls
• Use the Student Rec Center
• Check out materials at campus libraries

There are 12 different Schools and Colleges at the University of Memphis Main and Lambuth Campuses, plus off-campus locations including: Collierville, Cordova, Germantown, Millington, Whitehaven, and Dyersburg. Students seeking a degree are admitted to a school or college and not the University itself. Consequently, most academic policies, rules, and regulations are unique to the specific school or college to which a student applies. Each student should familiarize themselves with their specific school or college’s policies and degree requirements.

Those students who are non-degree seeking must apply to the University. These students should be aware that students can take only up to 1/3 of a degree requirement’s load before having to declare a major and move into the college or school. Some schools do require an additional application, such as the Loewenberg School of Nursing.

Students are required to abide by the rules and regulations regarding their academic journey at the UofM. Students can utilize the information about various topics including, appeals, class attendance, and computing GPA, to ensure that they are staying on track towards their goal of graduation.
