Lambuth Tiger Family Resource Hub: Student Involvement

Research highlights the positive influence of involvement outside the classroom on ways in which students grow and develop. Students who are involved in experiences outside of the classroom perform better in academics and in life. UofM offers numerous ways for students to experience leadership, diversity, community spirit, and Memphis pride.

Registered Student Organizations

Registered Student Organizations (RSO) offer programs, events, leadership opportunities, and activities that reflect the diverse nature of our student body. Whether your student is looking for a group that supports athletics or the arts, community service or cultural awareness, religious or political activism, or academic scholarship, there's an Registered Student Organization for them at the UofM.

Campus Events

If your student feels like they don’t have time to commit to a group, encourage them to attend campus events. This is another great way to get involved and meet new people. The Student Services office hosts many free events throughout the year. Your student can also find campus events on the Tiger Zone Events Calendar.

Service Opportunities

Students are encouraged to participate in community service-learning that is mutually beneficial to the university and our local community. Students can choose from a wide variety of opportunities with many different community partners. Whether a student is looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity or a recurring spot, there are opportunities to find a fit to enhance their academic learning.

Leadership Development

The Student Leadership & Involvement office offers a variety of leadership training programs designed to compliment your student's academic experiences. They are often free of charge and provide your student with valuable skills and knowledge that can be used inside and outside the classroom in their everyday lives and future careers.

Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation and Intramural Services (CRIS) manages the Campus Recreation Center and offers a variety of recreation activities. Students can participate in Fitness and Aerobic classes or sign up for personal training sessions. Intramural and club sports are offered in both the Fall and Spring semesters. CRIS also offers students the opportunity to rent outdoor gear if they would like to enjoy the great outdoors, but are unable to store their personal equipment in their dorm or apartment.

Study Abroad

The Study Abroad Office provides rigorous academic programs with a cross-cultural learning experience that is not available in the United States.

More than 200 semester, academic year and short-term programs in over 60 countries worldwide are offered to meet the diverse needs of the University of Memphis student population.

Encourage your student to think early about study aboard and how it might fit into their academic schedule. Scholarships are available for students and financial aid may also be used towards covering the costs of studying abroad.

Athletic Events

Full-time students can attend all UofM athletic events hosted in UofM facilities for free with their student id. Students also have the opportunity to purchase guest tickets to sit with them in the student section. Student parking is available at the Liberty Bowl and FedExForum but is very limited. A free shuttle is available from campus to the stadium for select Football home games and Men's Basketball home games.

Is your student a True Blue Tiger? Encourage them to join in the Spirit Activies that take place on campus!

Multicultural Affairs

Recognizing that diversity and inclusion are key components to our students' learning experience, the Multicultural Student Association (MSA) provides detailed information on political, social, and cultural affairs of International communities by bringing speakers to campus, and planning fun events on campus.
