Toolkit
To build a bridge you first need tools. The Toolkit was developed as a support to the Bridge program, a study to promote awareness of post-secondary programs for marginalized students with intellectual disabilities (ID). Additionally, there was a desire to to examine outcomes of community conversation in driving capacity building. It wasn't long before it became apparent that there was a great need for programs for this underserved population.
Building a bridge to programs can only be done if there are programs available. The University of Memphis Institute on Disability (UMID) Toolkit is designed to provide a resource for post-secondary programs that serves students with moderate to severe exceptionalities including intellectual disabilities and autism. The Toolkit is designed to support educators with designing lessons that emphasizes employability skills, provide services associated with job placement, and ensuring that effective instruction is taking place overall within post-secondary and transition programs. These instruments will help you build programs, awareness, and a community invested in changing lives.
