Based on the best-selling book by Studs Terkel, Working is an honest, unflinching look at hearts and minds of 26 everyday heroes: the teacher, the millworker, the mason, the stay-at-home mom, and many more. This revised version, to be filmed then streamed, features an exciting, eclectic score with new songs by the Tony-winning creator of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell), Mary Rodgers (Once Upon a Mattress), and James Taylor (Grammy-Award winner). Working juxtaposes sung and spoken stories, showing us a glimpse of unique individuals while also weaving them into a larger tapestry of how Americans view work as a reflection of our humanity.
