Hamlet: Fall of the Sparrow
by William Shakespeare
Feb 13 – 15 and 20 – 22, 2020This adaptation of one of Shakespeare's most-produced plays marks the Memphis debut of writer/director Holly L. Derr, the University's new Professor of Directing. Upon their father's death, Hamlet returns to Elsinore to find that their mother has married their uncle, and they suspect foul play. Join them as they navigate a world of secrets and lies to find the truth, competing with the rest of the aristocracy to restore honor to their families. Does Hamlet have the ability to set things right, or are there forces at play beyond their reckoning? Set inside a video game, the show asks the audience to consider who is playing and who is being played.
