Rising Leaders Scholarship Program

Mission

To cultivate future leaders through a comprehensive one-year program emphasizing individual growth, group collaboration, and global community engagement. Our students will apply their leadership skills as dedicated volunteers within the Memphis community.

Vision

To empower students as career-ready leaders who excel in teamwork and drive positive change in their communities and the world through service, innovation, and ethical leadership.

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this one-year undergraduate scholarship, students will:

Individual Leadership Development

  • Exhibit a deep understanding of personal strengths, values, motivations, and leadership styles.
  • Analyze complex situations, identify underlying issues, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Recognize, understand, and manage their own emotions and the emotions of others, fostering positive and productive relationships.

Group Leadership Development

  • Collaborate effectively with team members, demonstrating active listening, open-mindedness, and a willingness to share responsibilities.
  • Navigate group conflicts constructively, seeking mutually agreeable solutions while maintaining positive team dynamics.

Community Engagement and Leadership

  • Engage effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders, including campus and greater Memphis community members, local organizations, and government agencies, to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of social responsibility, upholding ethical principles and advocating for positive change in the community.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect, recognizing the community's diversity of experiences and perspectives.

Career Readiness

  • Demonstrate professionalism and apply critical thinking in different aspects of undergraduate life.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and stay current in their fields of study.
