Trainee Program Expectations
What will Participating Students do?
The UofM-Memphis program is structured around four courses:
- An English course – This course is focused on helping participating students develop the language and communication skills they need to fully benefit from this program and the resultant academic and professional opportunities.
- A Professional Development (PD) course - This course will integrate professionalism, research, entrepreneurship, ethics, and communication training for the undergraduate students.
- A Research Symposium - The focus of the Research Symposium is to facilitate research roundtables, providing a setting for UofM professors to discuss their research activities and for staff from UofM Research Foundation Research Park, as well as industry and entrepreneurial partners of UofM, to discuss their industry experiences. The main focus of these research roundtables is to discuss current limitations, innovations, and potential ways to overcome them (e.g., innovation).
- A research-based course - Spanish and Andorran students will be placed in research internships at local UofM laboratories under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator of each lab. Students will receive additional peer mentoring from UofM undergraduate and graduate students.
