Elementary Music Camp is for rising 1st - 6th graders

Welcome to Music Camp – the ultimate summer experience for budding musicians and music enthusiasts! Our camp is designed to foster a love for music in a fun and inclusive environment, making it the perfect choice for rising 1st-6th graders who appreciate the magic of melodies. Our Music Camp is open to all, regardless of musical background or experience.

Camp Highlights:

  • Full Day of Melodies and Movement: Campers will immerse themselves in a full day of musical exploration, discovering the joy of creating and appreciating different melodies. From rhythm games to interactive sessions, our camp is packed with activities that make learning music a blast!

  • Experienced Faculty and Staff: Our camp is led by a team of experienced and passionate faculty and staff dedicated to nurturing each camper's musical talents. They create a supportive and encouraging atmosphere, ensuring every child feels confident and excited about their musical journey.

  • Camp Concert: See what your musician has been learning and playing throughout the week at our Camp Concert on Friday.

Music classes will include: 

  • Basic Orff-Schulwerk Music - singing, body percussion, and instruments
  • Movement - folk dance and creative movement
  • Singing/Circle Games (Grades 1-3)
  • Recorder (Grades 4-6)

Special Opportunities for Elementary Students with Musical Experience: If your elementary student already has musical experience, especially with the Suzuki method, we encourage you to explore our specialized camps tailored to their skill level. These camps provide an opportunity for advanced learning and musical growth. Email us to discuss their attendance at our Orchestra + Band Camp.

Extended Play Option: We offer an Extended Play option for those looking to extend the musical fun. Campers can dive deeper into their creativity and collaborate with fellow music enthusiasts, enhancing their overall camp experience. Extended Play is from 3:30-5:30 PM, Monday-Thursday.

Camp Cost:

  • Camp: $250, includes tuition and the required official camp t-shirt. Shirt Sizes cannot be guaranteed if registering after May 1. 
  • Add On's:
    • Music Camp Meal Plan: $55 (includes lunch Monday - Friday)
    • Extended Play Aftercare: $50 (3:30-5:30 PM, Monday-Thursday)

We are excited to announce we will have scholarships available for our Summer at the Scheidt Camps for the Summer of 2025!

Made possible by generous donors and the Truist Charitable Fund!

We have ten (10) scholarships of $250 each for each camp available! Scholarships will be applied to camp tuition only. 

Scholarship submissions, including the teacher recommendation, are due no later than April 1, 2025 at 11:59PM Central Time. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted or considered.

Applications will be carefully reviewed by the Summer at the Scheidt Board of Directors. Winners will be notified no later than May 1, 2025.

The scholarship application includes questions geared toward each age group. Please read prompts carefully.

  • Current K-2 will upload a scanned drawing with the application.
    • What does music in your community look like to you?
  • Current 3-5 will upload a scanned HANDWRITTEN paragraph with the application.
    • Why is music important to you and the people in your community? How does it make your community special?
  • Current 6-12 will have the following short essay questions: 
    • What do you hope to learn or experience at this music camp, and how do you think it will help you grow as a musician?
    • How does music influence your life, both inside and outside of school?
    • Why is attending the Summer at the Scheidt music camp important to you, and how do you think it will impact your future in music?
  • All will complete the Extra-curricular Activities and Music Awards or Achievements
  • All are to have their teacher complete the Teacher Recommendation Form
