Band + Orchestra Camp is for rising 7th - 12th graders
Welcome to the Summer at the Scheidt Band + Orchestra Camp, where a musical adventure awaits you! Join us for a week of unparalleled experiences, refined techniques, and newfound confidence as you dive into the world of band and orchestra.
Camp Features:

Expert Faculty: Our camp is led by a team of expert faculty members, each dedicated to providing you with the guidance and mentorship needed for musical excellence. With years of experience in both education and performance, our faculty is committed to helping you reach your full potential.

Diverse Lessons: Immerse yourself in a week filled with diverse lessons tailored to your instrument and skill level. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced musician, our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire, helping you grow as a musician.

Engaging Masterclasses: Participate in engaging masterclasses that provide valuable insights and techniques. Learn from accomplished musicians and gain a deeper understanding of your instrument and the world of orchestral music.

Captivating Performances: Showcase your talents and enjoy captivating performances by fellow campers and professionals. Our camp is not just about learning; it's about celebrating the joy of music through live performances that will leave you inspired.
- Camp Concert: Showcase what you learned during the week at a special Camp Concert on Friday.
Band + Orchestra Camp Electives:

Extended Day and Overnight Options:
Campers are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the musical experience by staying for the entire day until 8 PM. This extended duration allows for the exploration of thoughtful electives, the honing of skills, and the building of connections with fellow musicians.
Upgrade your experience and be a resident camper! Campers can live, learn and play the week away on the University of Memphis campus—housing in the Living Learning Center.
Camp Cost:
- Day Camper: $250, includes tuition and an official camp t-shirt if registered by March 31
- Add On's:
- Day Camper Meal Plan: $100 (includes lunch and dinner Monday-Thursday plus lunch on Friday)
- Private Lessons: $65 per hour, only available for Band + Orchestra Camp
- Official Camp Shirt if registering after March 31: $15
- Resident/Overnight Camper: $525
- Includes tution, official camp t-shirt (if registered by March 31), 4-nights accomodation, & meals
- Meals included: Lunch & Dinner on Monday + Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Tuesday - Thursday + Breakfast & Lunch on Friday
We are excited to announce we will have scholarships available for our Summer at the Scheidt Camps for the Summer of 2025!
Made possible by generous donors and the Truist Charitable Fund!
We have ten (10) scholarships of $250 each for each camp available! Scholarships will be applied to camp tuition only.
Scholarship submissions, including the teacher recommendation, are due no later than April 1, 2025 at 11:59PM Central Time. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted or considered.
Applications will be carefully reviewed by the Summer at the Scheidt Board of Directors. Winners will be notified no later than May 1, 2025.
The scholarship application includes questions geared toward each age group. Please read prompts carefully.
- Current K-2 will upload a scanned drawing with the application.
- What does music in your community look like to you?
- Current 3-5 will upload a scanned HANDWRITTEN paragraph with the application.
- Why is music important to you and the people in your community? How does it make your community special?
- Current 6-12 will have the following short essay questions:
- What do you hope to learn or experience at this music camp, and how do you think it will help you grow as a musician?
- How does music influence your life, both inside and outside of school?
- Why is attending the Summer at the Scheidt music camp important to you, and how do you think it will impact your future in music?
- All will complete the Extra-curricular Activities and Music Awards or Achievements
- All are to have their teacher complete the Teacher Recommendation Form
