Chapter 33 and 31 Veterans Exempted from Tiger Eat$

The University of Memphis will exempt all Chapter 33 and 31 veterans from the Tiger Eat$ Meal Plan charge starting with the Fall 2024 term.

This exemption will only apply to veteran students who are coded as Chapter 33 or Chapter 31 Veterans, specifically. This will only apply to students who request the VA deferral and that the deferral must be requested every semester that VA benefits will be used.

The exemption will not apply to the following populations under GI Bill® benefits:

  • Chapter 33 dependents.
  • Chapter 35 Dependents Educational Assistance benefit.
  • Chapter 1606/Montgomery Reserve and National Guard components.
  • Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill Active-Duty veterans.

Although the Tiger Eat$ Meal Plan charge will still show on the exempted veteran students tuition billing, USBS will apply a $350 scholarship to the exempted student population that will alleviate this charge from their account.

If you have any questions regarding this change, you may contact the VEBC or USBS Offices.
