Credit by Exam Opportunities

Please see available credit by exam opportunities. This list is subject to change based on a college's practice or policy. If you do not see the course offering for a credit by exam opportunity that you want to take,  please discuss with the department or your advisor. Students should check with their advisors before signing up for credit by exam opportunities. 

Different opportunities for credit may be available through College Level Examination Program (CLEP); see the CLEP page for details.

Notes:

• In the School of Music, credit by exam is handled on a case-by-case basis given each student's unique circumstances. Please contact Dr. Josef Hanson (Josef.Hanson@memphis.edu) for graduate options or Dr. Will Plenk (wjplenk@memphis.edu) for undergraduate options.
• In the Department of Mathematical Sciences, other courses will be considered for Credit by Exam/Course Validation on a case-by-case basis. Contact Ilham Tayahi at itayahi@memphis.edu.
• All the programs in Engineering allow credit by exam with departmental approval on a case-by-case basis.
• There are no credit by exam options in Journalism and Strategic Media. 
• There are no credit by exam opportunities in the Leadership department: All programs (Leadership and Policy Studies - LDPS and Higher and Adult Education - HIAD).
• There are no credit by exam opportunities in the Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research department: Two programs (Counseling - COUN and Counseling Psychology - CPSY).
