Digital Health Strategy for Brazil

Description of Talk: In recent years, digital health has been advancing at a fast pace in Brazil. In 2017, the “Digital Health Strategy for Brazil” was approved by the Federal Government, with telehealth as one of the areas of activity. Although telehealth has been widely used in Brazil since the early 2000s, the Covid-19 pandemic has consolidated its practices in the country. The expansion of connectivity and digital services in patient care led to the biggest transformation ever seen in the Unified Health System (SUS), considered the largest public system in the world. The UFPE Telehealth Center was created in 2003, and since then has researched and implemented solutions for teaching digital health and patient care. We will provide a current overview of Digital Health in Brazil and address the strategies adopted by NUTES in the fight against Covid-19 through its Clinical Telemonitoring Center (CTC).

The Public Health Student Association will be on hand with giveaways Monday (April 4th) from 11 am-2 pm at the University Center First Floor Atrium. On Wednesday (April 6th), Dr. Jennifer Turchi will lead a discussion on Advancing Racial Equity from 10:15-11:15 am in Robison Hall, Room117. On Friday (April 8th), join the PHSA from 1-3 pm either in Robison 117 or via zoom for a free screening of "The Heathcare Divide." The 901 Public Health Champions (our undergraduate student club) have planned a host of activities for National Public Health Week, including a student-led panel on Racism moderated by Dr. Courtnee Melton-Fant, speaking with students at the Campus School, and volunteering at Green Leaf Community Garden.
