Inaugural Meeting of Community Stress and Well-Being Lab

February 17, 2025 - Dr. Alex Parkhouse, PhD, MA, Assistant Professor in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, recently received the Research Initiative Supporting Excellence in Early CareeR  (RISER) Development Award. With support from the School of Public Health-issued award, he founded the Community Stress and Well-Being Lab, a pioneering research initiative dedicated to studying interpersonal, institutional, environmental, and community-related stressors affecting campus community members and Memphis-Shelby County Residents.

As one of the first labs of its kind housed within the School of Public Health (SPH), the Community Stress and Well-Being Lab seeks to improve mental health and stress-related outcomes across the Mid-South, train graduate's researchers, contribute to the SPH CARES mission, and expand the school’s community outreach efforts.
