2025 Communities of Research Scholars Grant Kick-off

January 30, 2025 - The University of Memphis recently hosted a kickoff meeting for the 2025 Communities of Research Scholars (CoRS) Grant, marking the beginning of pilot development for the Maternal and Child Health Handbook in Shelby County, TN. The initiative, led by Population Health Deputy Administrator and second-year PhD student in Social and Behavioral Sciences, Tunishia S. Kuykindall is part of her doctoral dissertation project. 

The handbook aims to serve as a lifelong medical guide for families, connecting them to essential services and resources to promote healthier lives. The project is supported by Dr. Shafi Bhuiyan, Program Coordinator, Associate Professor, and Advisor in the School of Public Health’s Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences.  

The research team also includes Co-Principal Investigator and Medical Officer Dr. Michelle Taylor, along with the University of Memphis Loewenberg College of Nursing Assistant Professor Samantha Calhoun.
