About Rajesh Melaram

Dr. Melaram earned his doctoral degree in Public Health from Walden University with a concentration in Epidemiology. He received his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of South Florida. He is also provisionally certified as a Molecular Diagnostics Technologist by the American Association of Bioanalysts.

Rajesh recently completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Bioinformatic Epidemiology in the School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Memphis where he contributed to environmental and epigenetic studies on allergic diseases.

Before joining SPH, Rajesh worked as a Biology Instructor and tenured Assistant Professor at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, FL for 5 years and 1 year, respectively. In addition, he served as the Interim Program Manager of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Biomedical Science for the Department of Nursing and Allied Health.

Dr. Melaram’s research has focused on pollen exposures and allergic diseases. He also has several first author publications in the arena of blue-green algae toxins and hepatic disease. Dr. Melaram has experience in undergraduate teaching in biology and public health as well as mentoring pre-professional students.
