Services

The University of Memphis PSC provides a broad range of outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services. Common concerns, such as interpersonal difficulties, grief, stress, depression, anxiety, and trauma as well as specialty services, such as treatment for gambling and K-12 academic interventions, are available.

At the beginning of our relationship, each client completes a clinical assessment with their graduate student therapist that becomes the basis for their personalized treatment plan. The graduate student therapist then works with the client to establish goals and address those goals using evidence-informed treatments. The treatment plan is updated as necessary to help ensure clients are on a successful path forward.

Fees

The PSC is committed to providing low-cost, high-quality mental health services, and as a result our services are priced considerably lower than most other mental health care providers in the greater Memphis area. We also want to be maximally transparent about your fees; at the beginning of your services, you will receive a cost estimate from our front office.

As the PSC is committed to making mental health care more accessible, we offer a sliding scale that allows us to reduce the cost of our services for students and others experiencing financial stress. Additionally, we can modify our fees in the event of financial hardship, such as job loss. Please speak directly with our office staff if you have questions about fees and discounts.

Payment Policy

We do not accept or require insurance.

Telehealth

Beginning in 2020, the Psychological Services Center offers some services via telehealth. These appointments are held over secured Zoom calls to help protect your privacy and maintain your confidentiality. Our therapists, examiners, and supervisors will evaluate the type of service that can best fit clients’ needs while observing safety practices.

Clinical Research

The Psychological Services Center is committed to accessible, evidence-based mental health care. To further this goal, we support ongoing research efforts related to psychological assessment and treatments.

Despite the importance of applied research, the confidentiality and privacy of our clients is of the utmost importance. Active research (i.e., research that would affect the services you receive) requires your express and explicit permission, will require additional consent forms, and will provide you with additional information, as necessary. All research conducted in the PSC is (a) conducted under the supervision of faculty in the psychology department, (b) approved by the University of Memphis Institutional Review board, and (c) approved by the clinic director. Additionally, all services provided within a research framework must adhere to our usual standards for quality care. You have the right to withdraw from any services, research or otherwise, at any time.
