1. Resume Workshop + Approved Resume in FIN

The Resume workshop provides students with the necessary tools to create a resume that highlights their skills, abilities, and accomplishments. The resume represents a student’s academic achievements, extracurricular activities, work experience, and skills, allowing them to showcase their qualifications to potential employers, scholarship providers, and even college admissions committees.

2. Interview Skills Workshop

The Interview workshop helps students to prepare for an interview. Through this workshop students can learn how to share pertinent information about themselves so effectively that it will convince an interviewer that they are the right candidate for the job.

3. LinkedIn Workshop

The Linked workshop provides students an opportunity to enhance their professional brand by creating a dynamic LinkedIn account that increases their visibility, networking ability and ability to highlight their achievements and standout.  Students also review other types of online branding to ensure they put their best self forward.

4. Dining Etiquette

The Dining Etiquette workshop provides students with the tools needed to be comfortable and at ease at a business lunch or dinner. During this workshop students are provided with the tools necessary to enhance their social skills, table manners and etiquette. Students leave the experience feeling more prepared to make a great impression at their first business lunch or dinner.

Accounting Careers of Tomorrow (ACT)

Accounting Careers of Tomorrow (ACT) provides accounting students an opportunity to improve upon their interviewing skills, explore career options in accounting and make connections with employers in the accounting industry. This event is hosted by CPA firm, Reynolds Bone and Griesbeck (RBG).

Business 101

Business 101 serves as an introduction to the Professional Development Program. Through this workshop, students will learn about resources necessary to become business ready, workplace etiquette, and how to become more confident and polished.

Career Fair Workshop

The Career Fair Workshop gives students the techniques to walk into any career fair and know who to meet and what to say. Through this workshop, students learn about best practices, dos, and don’ts and how to make their mark and land the interview.

How do you adapt to new situations? Join us for Change Management where we discuss how to adapt to new situations, embrace new learning environments and manage changes in your personal and business life.

Critical Thinking

The Critical Thinking workshop provides students with the tools necessary to analyze and decide when and how to make the best decisions or to problem solve. Learn some new tactics to become a better critical thinker.

Diversity Equity and Inclusion

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshop provides an overview of how corporations align with U.S. laws while addressing the needs of a diverse workforce. Learn how to actively contribute to creating an inclusive environment and become a more equitable and supportive part of your organization.

Emotional Control / Emotional Intelligence

The Emotional Control / Emotional Intelligence Workshop (EQ) helps students develop key skills in self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation to enhance personal and professional relationships. Through interactive exercises and practical strategies student learn to improve communication and navigate challenging situations with confidence and empathy.

The Business Ethics workshop equips students with the tools to navigate complex ethical dilemmas in the workplace, fostering integrity and accountability. Through real-world examples and engaging debates, students will explore ethical decision-making and develop practical solutions to common business challenges.

Executive Presence

The Executive Presence workshops provide students will the tools necessary to improve their executive presence. Through this workshop students explore ways to enhance gravitas, communication, appearance and how to network as an executive.

Fiscal Wellness (All 5 Workshops)

This five-part workshop teaches the basics of money management. The sections include Budgeting, Credit Basics, Investing 101, Insurance and Real Estate and Retirement. This basic knowledge is sure to get you started on a healthy financial road.

Fogelman Serves (5 hours of community service)

Through Fogelman Serves, students are encouraged to complete five hours of community service. This initiative allows students to connect with the community while enhancing personal growth, increasing civic responsibility, and providing opportunities to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Futures in Finance

Futures in Finance provides finance students an opportunity to explore careers in finance. Through this workshop students learn about various career paths and what it takes to be successful in Finance from seasoned professionals while making valuable career connections.

Leadership Role FCBE Student Organization (Limit 2)

Students are encouraged to join a student organization during their time here in Fogelman. We acknowledge the commitment it takes to serve in a leadership role while balancing work, life, and school. Students are recognized by receiving credits towards the Professional Development Program. (Limit 2)

Learn to Lead

The Learn to Lead Symposium provides an opportunity for students interested in management or leadership roles to hear from C-Suites executives about how to lead and manage. Topics discussed during this symposium are Effective Communication, Emotional Control and Personal Branding. This event is sponsored by Enterprise Mobility and is held during the Fall semester only.

This one-of-a-kind workshop celebrates the unique spirit of Memphis, offering a journey to explore how we can collectively enhance and elevate our city. Join us as we discuss the places, people, and dreams that make Memphis the city to live, work, and thrive.

Developing your unique personal brand is about defining who you want to be and effectively showcasing that to the world. This workshop helps you uncover your strengths, passions, and values while guiding you in building a personal brand that authentically represents you and resonates with others.

Persuasive Presenters (All 4 Sessions)

Good written and verbal communication skills are ranked most valuable by employers. Effective presentation skills are important because they help keep a presentation interesting, help the presenter communicate with confidence, and motivate the audience to listen. Persuasive Presenters gives you the tools necessary to let others know you have a voice and something to contribute.

Supply Chain Academy (All 4 Sessions)

The Supply Chain Academy introduces students to the world of supply chain. The SCA consists of four (4) one-hour lunch and learn sessions where industry leaders in supply chain provide an overview of their company as well as discuss the diverse range of career opportunities that they provide. In addition to the overview, students also hear about current internship opportunities. Past lunch and learn presenters include, DHL, Dunavant, International Paper, and AutoZone.

Technology Careers in Business

Technology Careers in Business highlights the diverse career paths available in the tech industry, from Sales and Programming to Cybersecurity and FBI Agent roles. This workshop covers all areas of IT, including SCRUM Masters, Data Analysts, and more, offering insights into how technology shapes modern business and the many opportunities within it.

Additional Professional workshops or events pre-approved by the CPCD

While the CPCD offers 20+ professional development workshops/programs, we recognize that other professional development opportunities may become available. Students interested in attended workshops not offered by the CPCD have the option to submit the professional development opportunity for credit. If approved, students can receive credit towards the Professional Development Certificate Program.
