About Us
Professional & Continuing Education is a division of Academic Affairs at the University of Memphis. Our instructors are either University faculty or other experts from the community.

Office Hours
The University of Memphis is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM until 4:30 PM. University closings can be found at https://bf.memphis.edu/hr/holidays.php.

Registrations are processed Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 4 PM.

Enrollment & Insurance
Enrollment is limited to adults for most Professional and Continuing Education classes unless otherwise noted in the course description. Exam Prep courses are an exception. If you have questions about a specific course, please contact us.
The University of Memphis does not carry health or accident insurance (including accidental death) on participants in the Professional & Continuing Education program. Customers are encouraged to secure health and accident insurance to cover their participation in our courses.

Customers with Disabilities
Accommodations will be made for students with disabilities. Please call 901.678.6000 at least two weeks in advance of your class to make arrangements for accommodations.

Class Cancellations
Classes with insufficient enrollment may be canceled and students notified before the first class meeting. Since contacts must be made during the day, please supply your daytime phone number or one where a message may be left for you. In case of inclement weather, if the University is closed, our classes will not be held. Students will not be notified.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Professional Education (CPEs)

If you want to provide CEUs and or CPEs for your conference, institute, or workshop, click HERE for more details.

The University of Memphis Professional & Continuing Education department awards the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for satisfactory completion of some of our non-credit courses. The CEU is a nationally recognized, uniform unit of measurement awarded at the rate of one CEU for each ten contact hours of participation. Conditions for satisfactory completion: Participants must (1) be properly registered and pay all fees before classes begin; (2) attend 75% of scheduled classes; and (3) achieve a "satisfactory" rating from the instructor. NOTE: Some courses provided by Professional and Continuing Education may not meet the criteria for awarding CEUs or CPEs. If you want to know whether your course qualifies for CEUs or CPEs, please call our offices at 901.678.6000 or check the course information available on the registration site.

Duplicate CEU certificates are available for a $10 fee.
Download the form here. Please allow five business days for a duplicate certificate request to be processed.

Transcripts
Customers may obtain transcripts for some non-credit courses taken and CEU and/or CPE credits earned. These are available for up to five years after the end of the course. Please complete the required form and submit it to our office. There is no charge for transcripts, but we ask that you allow five business days for processing.

Parking at the University
Due to the short-term nature of most classes, the garage parking (located on Fogelman Drive and on Zach Curlin) is recommended as the most convenient and cost-effective option for our customers. Go to Parking and Transportation Services for all parking options for the UofM campus.

Tiger Escort is an escort service provided to students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the University.  Call 678-4663 (678-HOME) to request an escort.

Refund Policy

There are no refunds for Defensive Driving, but your registration fee can be applied to a future section if you notify the office at least 48 hours prior to the class for which you registered. A $10 fee is assessed for the first schedule change. Afterward, the course fee must be paid again in full.
