LCON Makes a Meaningful Mark at the African American Male Wellness Walk/Run

Group of Pictures from the AA Walk

In the predawn hours of Saturday, October 7, 2023, Fourth Bluff Park saw the arrival of a dedicated team comprising 70 LCON faculty, staff and students. Their mission of “bringing the clinic to the community” through a day of volunteerism and community service at the African American Male Wellness Walk.

Led by the collective efforts of LCON student organizations (SNA, GSNA, MINDSET), faculty and student success administration, LCON volunteers took on a multitude of responsibilities, including health screenings, event operations leadership, and educational outreach. Their collective effort resulted in over 300 free health screenings, directly benefiting nearly 200 men through the expertise of LCON students in both screenings and health education engagement.

These dedicated actions of the LCON team are a tangible embodiment of our college's core principles. By exemplifying these principles, LCON effectively underlined our mission and left an indelible mark on the event.

These inspired efforts reaffirm the college's unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our community.
