Commencing her nursing journey, Dama Cooley embarked on her professional path within a medical-surgical/orthopedic unit. Subsequently, she transitioned, dedicating herself fully to an inpatient psychiatric care facility while also contributing part-time to home health services. Dama's expertise spans diverse areas, encompassing adult health medical-surgical nursing, mental health, maternal/newborn care, and community health.
In her expansive career, Dama's engagement extended to various domains. She interacted extensively with patients in a rural clinic, imparted nursing education as a professor for ASN students, and delivered online NCLEX instruction. Dama holds a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential and an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification which allows her to volunteer within her local community. Dama values lifelong learning, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing through East Tennessee State University. Her dissertation research will involve older adults and aging in place within the rural community setting. Dama most enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, as well as her children, grandchildren, and other close family and friends.
