The School of Music values the contributions of part-time/visiting faculty members and graduate assistants to insure that their teaching meets university standards. Accordingly, adjunct faculty members will be evaluated on a regular basis. Faculty new to the University will be evaluated each semester for the first year. Continuing faculty will be evaluated yearly. The evaluations will be conducted by the department chair/director or designee and the results filed for future reference and maintained for accrediting agencies.
Evaluations will focus primarily on teaching effectiveness (rather than research or service) and will be based on: SETE scores and comments*, review of syllabi and teaching materials*; review of grading; direct observations; self-evaluations; and an evaluation meeting with the supervisor.
Please note that once submitted, an emailed copy will be sent to the person being evaluated, the faculty evaluator, and SOM Main Office. The emailed automated format will be slightly different than what's shown below.
