Researchers Uncover Evidence of Long-Lost Nile Tributary

While in several parts of the world a dried-up riverbed is more often a cause for concern than celebration, a triad of researchers including a University of Memphis professor of Egyptology has uncovered evidence that an ancient tributary of the Nile River existed thousands of years ago, a significant discovery archaeologists can now use to pinpoint with precision additional areas warranting future research.

UofM's Journalism and Strategic Media Department Receives Top Honor as Best Undergraduate Program in Nation

The Department of Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Memphis was awarded a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Anvil award, naming it the best undergraduate communications/public relations program in the country. Each year, PRSA honors the best strategic public relations campaigns and outstanding organizational excellence with a Silver Anvil Award, the highest honor the organization can bestow.

Music-Therapy Trailblazer to Lead UofM’s College of Communication and Fine Arts

An established leader of music therapy known around the world for her research into the link between the arts and well-being will become the new dean of the College of Communications and Fine Arts at the University of Memphis. Debra Burns, who currently leads the Department of Music and Arts Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), specializes in music-based intervention research.
