UofM to Hold Summer Commencement August 3
The University of Memphis will hold its summer commencement ceremony this Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Renasant Convention Center in Downtown Memphis with 671 students receiving a degree or certificate.

Hooks Institute Calls for Submissions for New Art Award
The Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change at the University of Memphis invites submissions of visual-based artwork from Memphis-area artists on the theme “The Beauty of Change.” Named in honor of Frances Dancy Hooks, the award is the first of its kind for the Institute and is designed to acknowledge the importance and impact of artists in the work of social change.

UofM Institute for Public Service Reporting Wins Prestigious Green Eyeshade Award
The University of Memphis’ Institute for Public Service Reporting won first place in this year’s Green Eyeshade Awards. Judges awarded the institute the top prize in the journalism contest’s online public service reporting category.

Dr. Rick Bloomer Named Interim Chief Operating Officer at UofM Lambuth
Dr. Richard J. Bloomer, dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Memphis, will serve as Interim Chief Operating Officer of the UofM Lambuth.

Two UofM Childhood Programs Receive $9.2 Million in State Grants for Early Intervention Services
Two early intervention resource agencies, Project Memphis (PM) and the Regional Intervention Program (RIP) for young children with developmental delays and disabilities, are here to stay for several more years at the University of Memphis to aid Memphis and Shelby County families thanks to three grants from the State of Tennessee totaling $9.2 million.

Drone Research Earns CAESER Scientist $3.4 Million Grant
A senior researcher with the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER) at the University of Memphis recently received a $3.4 million grant from the U.S. Army Research Office to continue developing a network of drones with different sensors affixed to each to enhance imaging and reporting capabilities.
