Law School Alumni Association to Honor Seven at Pillars Event

 

The Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law Alumni Chapter will honor seven individuals at the Pillars of Excellence Law Alumni Chapter Awards on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the University of Memphis Maxine A. Smith University Center. This year marks the first time the awards ceremony will be held on UofM’s campus under new law school Dean Jim Strickland.

UofM Secures $9.2M Navy Contract to Design Drone Facility

 

A University of Memphis researcher is looking to improve the odds for such unmanned aerial systems after securing a $9.2 million contract to design and construct a facility to develop and test drones capable of operating in adverse weather conditions. The state-of-the-art facility is being sponsored by the Office of Naval Research and the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Carderock Division. The facility, which is still in its early planning stages, will be located on President’s Island at the William Morgan Large Cavitation Channel.

$300K Grant Helps Launch New Journalism Program at UofM

Scripps Foundation, to start an open-source investigative reporting graduate program expected to become a critical asset for current and future journalists in Memphis and across the country.
