University of Memphis Hosts Third Annual Campus-wide Giving Event, Driven by Giving
March 30, 2023 — The University of Memphis will host the third annual Driven by Giving from April 3-7. The campaign is expanding to a five-day, University-wide giving event where students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners show their support of the UofM through philanthropy.
“Every year, thousands of alumni and friends make investments to strengthen the UofM for our students,” said Joanna Curtis, vice president of University Advancement. “This is a monumental opportunity to expand on this Tiger tradition and celebrate the impact philanthropic support has in the lives of our students.”
During the campaign, different student groups, colleges and programs on campus highlight specific areas of needs to encourage everyone to attend. Supporters can allocate gifts to the areas they are most passionate about at the UofM, from student scholarships to UofM priority initiatives and traditions such as Frosh Camp.
“The UofM has so many important causes across campus that need contributions,” said Jack Callahan, development officer and event organizer. “When we all do our part, no matter how big or small, it makes the load a lot easier for our students.”
Exciting challenges and interactive virtual and in-person elements will help supporters stay engaged throughout the week. The “Tiger Nation Challenge” will turn a map of the United States “Tiger Blue” when donations are secured from each of the 50 states. Other initiatives include an Alumni Decade Leaderboard to highlight the decade of alumni who bring in the most donations and a donor wall highlighting individual gifts as they are received.
“Even if you can’t make an investment, you can help our students by sharing with your friends and family on social media to help spread the word,” Callahan said. “Every time someone likes, shares or follows, it helps us reach our goals.”
Last year’s campaign raised more than $650,000 from nearly 1,150 donors. To learn more about the Driven by Giving campaign or to make a gift, visit memphis.edu/drivenbygiving.
