University of Memphis to Confer 1,902 Degrees at Winter Commencement
December 13, 2023 — A total of 1,902 students are poised to graduate during two University of Memphis commencement ceremonies at FedEx Forum this Sunday, Dec. 17, making them the largest winter graduating class in recent years.
Dr. Raymond Zimmerman will be the commencement speaker. Zimmerman is a Memphis State University alumnus who, along with his parents, co-founded the national retail chain Service Merchandise in 1960.
Of those graduating Sunday, 55 are doctoral students, 4 are Juris Doctor, 573 are receiving their master's degree, 1,131 are getting their bachelor's degree and 139 students are earning a certificate.
December 2023 Commencement
- Noon - Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (Juris Doctor), School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, College of Professional & Liberal Studies, Loewenberg College of Nursing, and Doctoral and Master Candidates from these groups.
- 4 PM - College of Communication and Fine Arts, College of Health Sciences, Fogelman College of Business & Economics, Herff College of Engineering, Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality & Resort Management, School of Public Health and Doctoral and Master Candidates from these groups.
Guests are encouraged to arrive in the parking areas 90 minutes before the ceremony to help with traffic flow. For those unable to attend the ceremony in person, there will be a livestream available for viewing on the University’s Commencement YouTube channel.
