UofM Global offers free online college prep course
June 8, 2020 - UofM Global is now offering College Prep, a complimentary online course open to anyone interested in learning more about academic preparedness in a university setting. The minimum age for the class is 17.
For those curious about completing their degree online but aren’t sure how the online format works, this is a fun, no-risk introduction.
“Drawing upon our 20+ years of experience and our national recognition for quality online education, we’re pleased to make this college readiness course available to those who may be experiencing virtual learning for the first time,” said Dr. Richard Irwin, executive dean of UofM Global, Academic Innovation and the College of Professional & Liberal Studies.
Through the course, participants will focus on skills that are proven to support college success such as proper study habits, time management, accessing university resources, setting academic goals and writing skills.
“While the course is open to anyone, regardless of educational background, considering a return or entry into college in the fall and looking for an opportunity to get acquainted with college-level online learning, we are especially interested in supporting non-traditional adult students,” Irwin said.
College Prep is the second open online course offered by UofM Global this summer. Last month, UofM Global offered the popular Baseball: For the Love of the Game. To date, hundreds of baseball enthusiasts from 35 states have enrolled in the course.
Just like those enrolled in other UofM Global complementary courses, upon completion of College Prep and enrollment at the UofM, participants can apply for three credit hours of Experiential Learning Credit (ELC), which is the equivalent of one class, at a cost of only $75 per credit hour.
Participants can also learn about the University of Memphis and available online degree programs. UofM Global is the No. 1 ranked online program in the State of Tennessee with the online bachelors ranked No. 58 by U.S. News & World Report. Nearly 3,500 students from 39 states and several foreign countries are completing one of the 100+ fully online degree options available at the University of Memphis through UofM Global.
