Wind Ensemble Concert Will Feature Bill Shaltis
February 23, 2018 - The March 1 UofM Wind Ensemble Concert will feature Bill Shaltis in the Tennessee premiere of the percussion concerto Sideman by Mason Bates. The piece utilizes a wide range of instruments from the percussionist's arsenal - bells, vibraphone, woodblock, tom-toms and drum set to name a few. The concerto also explores a variety of unexpected musical styles like jazz and funk.
Also on the program will be Á La Machaut by Andrew Boss, Serenade for Winds in E Flat, K. 375 by W.A. Mozart and Danza Final from Estancia by Alberto Ginastera.
