the sandox. is proud to provide technology and resources that may otherwise be impossible for students to access or own. The technology is available in the Creatorspace and three Studios. Details about these spaces is available on this page.

the sandbox. creatorspace, located on the UofM Main Campus on McWherter Library's 1st Floor, is open to the public. At this time, our computers and technology are only available to UofM student and employee. We are working on a membership plan for approved community members.
Available Spaces
- Tech Pods include a reservable piece of technology, as well as a computer and workspace. Learn more about pods below.
- Workshop Space includes 12 computers and a large presenter-computer.
- Film Screening Space includes a reservable TV and couch to screen films.
- Video Game Space includes a large TV and comfortable seating; first-come, first-served.
- Collaboration Space includes open tables and chairs for collaborative projects.
Tech Pods
- 3D Printers: Two Prusa 3D printers connected to Windows OS desktop computers.
- Filament is available at no cost, or you can get your own approved.
- Must complete the 3D Printer Orientation before reservation or use.

- Cricut Paper & Vinyl Cutter: One Cricut paper & vinyl cutter connected to Windows OS desktop computer.
- Materials are not provided; check Cricut's website for approved materials.
- Must complete the Cricut Orientation before reservation or use.
- Check out the mats and toolkit to use.
- Sewing Machine: One Brother ST371HD sewing machine.
- Materials are not provided; black and white thread and bobbins are provided.
- Check out the pedal to use.
- MIDI Piano Keyboard: One Alesis 49-key piano keyboard connected to Windows OS desktop computer.
- Check out the cord and headphones to use.
- Large Digital Art Tablet: One Wacom Intuos Pro digital graphic drawing tablet connected to Windows OS desktop
computer with Adobe Suite.
- Check out the stylus to use.
- Glowforge Laser Cutter: One Glowforge Laser Cutter connected to Windows OS desktop computer.
- Materials are not provided; check Glowforge's website for approved materials.
- Must complete the Glowforge Laser Cutter Orientation before reservation or use.

Video Studio
The 2nd Floor Video Studio is a private, reservable space where you can polish and edit video projects. Along with lighting options, it now features a green screen wall backdrop that you can use as part of your video making process! In order to reserve and use the studio, you must take the Video Studio Orientation. Once you complete the orientation, it may take up to 48 hours for you to be approved. Once approved, you can make a reservation online. The Video Studio is in a quiet zone; speech recording is permitted, but instruments or singing is not permitted. If you need to record music, check out microphones and audio recorders from the McWherter Library Check Out Desk or the Music Library. Audio Studio
The 3rd Floor Audio Studio is a private, reservable space to record and edit voice projects. In order to reserve and use the studio, you must take the Audio Studio Orientation (COMING SOON). Once you complete the orientation, it may take up to 48 hours for you to be approved. Once approved, you can make a reservation online. The Audio Studio is in a quiet zone; speech recording is permitted, but instruments or singing is not permitted. If you need to record music, check out microphones and audio recorders from the McWherter Library Check Out Desk or the Music Library. Presentation Practice Studio
The 4th Floor Presentation Practice Studio is a private, reservable space to polish and edit presentation projects. In order to reserve and use the studio, you must take the Presentation Practice Studio Orientation. Once you complete the orientation, it may take up to 48 hours for you to be approved. Once approved, you can make a reservation online. The Presentation Practice Studio is in a silent zone; speech recording is permitted, but instruments or singing is not permitted. If you need to record music, check out microphones and audio recorders from the McWherter Library Check Out Desk or the Music Library. - Network desktop loaded with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Audacity, Blender, Freecad, GIMP, Inkscape, Krita, Prusa G-Code, Prusa Slicer, and UltiMaker Cura.
- 2 sets of over-the-ear headphones
- Green, white, and black backdrops
- Presentation projection screen (mini projector available to check out)
- Other camera equipment available for checkout when using studio
- Whiteboard and dry erase markers
- Chalkboard painted desk and chalk
- 2 umbrella lights and 2 LED fill lights

Software
The Sandbox computers have software that isn't downloaded on other campus computers. Software may be added or removed as permissions and licensing requirements change. At this time, all of the computers in The Sandbox and the Studios have:
