The University Libraries are unable to provide laptops for semester loan in 2025. The laptops were purchased with one-off COVID funds by the University in 2020 and are now too old to be maintained. Users can checkout laptops on a short-term basis (4-hours or 1 business day) from the Circulation desk. Computer workstations are available on all floors of McWherter Library and each of the branch libraries. Please provide us with feedback by completing the semester loan laptop program survey.

Late Fees & Fines

All Libraries billing is handled centrally. All fines must be paid through the Bursar's office either in person or online through myMemphis. If you have questions about a bill you have received, please contact Ms. Frankie Perry in the Circulation Department in McWherter Library, 901.678.4483.

General Checkout Books

General checkout books (those available from the stacks on 3rd and 4th floors) will accrue a charge after they are 30 days late.  Once a book is 30 days past due, it is assumed lost and charged the overdue fine of $7.50. Additionally, a nonrefundable $10.00 processing fee AND the replacement cost of the book are charged to the patron’s account. If the book is returned after 30 days, the replacement cost is deducted and the total due is $17.50 per book ($7.50 fine plus $10.00 processing fee).
