Dustin’s research focuses on dual enrollment, access and equity, democratic schooling, the high school experience, and federalism in education.  Prior to his appointment as an assistant professor, Dustin was a postdoctoral research fellow in Austin, TX where he studied how dual enrollment and early college policies affect students, teachers, and the public school system as part of a research team in Texas funded by a Spencer Foundation grant.

Prior to academia, Dustin taught in several high schools in Ohio, where he served as teachers union president in the Dayton Metropolitan area, as well as in administrative capacities.
