MA J+SM
The MA in Journalism and Strategic Media is a professionally driven program aimed
at equipping students with a balance of theory and practice in one of our three emphasis
areas.
All J+SM MA students are required to take a six-hour core of JRSM 7002 - Pro Seminar
(3 hours) and JRSM 7050 - Mass Comm Theory (3 hours) in addition to their emphasis
area.
Integrated Strategic Media
The Integrated Strategic Media emphasis combines the dynamic fields of advertising
and public relations, offering exciting job growth opportunities. Our program covers
all aspects of advertising, from art direction to media planning and buying, equipping
you for careers in agencies or corporate ad offices. Public relations plays a vital
role in building relationships between organizations and their audiences. Together,
these fields create a cohesive strategy for effective brand communication. Our courses
introduce essential concepts to prepare you for a successful career in integrated
strategic media. You'll learn to plan, implement, and evaluate communication strategies,
utilize the right tools for messaging, craft tactics for diverse stakeholders, and
understand the ethics of advertising and public relations.

Visual Media
As a visual media professional, you’ll be at the forefront of bringing ideas to life.
You’ll play a key role in crafting messages that resonate with your target audience,
using your creativity to think about how people consume content. In our program, you’ll
explore the art and science behind effective visual communication. You’ll learn how
