Application Process:

 

    • Are you an F1 or Non-F1 student? 
      • F1 Student: Students applying from outside of the US who require an F1 visa. If you are an F1 student you have to choose the following option.

      • Non-F1 Students: Students applying from inside of the US who do not require an F1 visa. If you are an Non-F1 student you have to choose the following option.

  • After submitting your application, you will receive email instructions for logging in to the True Blue Tiger Portal and for setting up your password for the True Blue Tiger Portal.

 

  • When you log in to the True Blue Tiger Portal, you will need to set up your permanent password, and pay the application fee.

 

  • Once you have uploaded your application documents, IEI will review your application documents. If we have any questions, we will contact you. If we do not have questions, we will upload an acceptance letter in your True Blue Tiger Portal

 

  • You will receive another email from the University of Memphis instructing you to set up your University of Memphis email account and DUO security login. Please set up your account. If you have difficulties completing this step, we can help you when you arrive in Memphis. This is a separate account from your True Blue Tiger Portal account, and you will not use it until after you arrive in Memphis.

 

For students who need an I20 to apply for an visa,

 

  • Please complete the I20 application in the True Blue Tiger Portal.

 

  • IEI will review your I20 application next. If we have questions, we will contact you

 

  • When your I20 application has been approved, IEI will process your I20 request. This step takes three to five days. When we have received the I20 from SEVIS, we will upload an I-20 to your True Blue Tiger Portal. The I-20 is the immigration document for people seeking student (F1) visas. Since COVID-19, we are allowed to upload the I20's to your True Blue Tiger Portal. This process can take up to a week after we approve your I20 application.

 

  • After we create an I20, we will send you an email with instructions to go to the True Blue Tiger Portal and download the acceptance letter and the I20.

 

  • Pay the Homeland Security (SEVIS) fee (You can pay the SEVIS fee here). There will be an appointment fee. Every Embassy is different. Look on the Embassy website for information about requesting interviews and visa wait times.

 

  • Schedule your travel to Memphis. You may arrive in the US up to 30 days before the start of the session. Let the IEI office know if you wish to have an airport pickup when you arrive in Memphis.

 

  • If you plan to live in UofM campus housing, complete online IEI housing application here.
