About Dr. Hilliard
Dr. Hilliard served as a special education teacher and in leadership positions within the K-12 setting. Dr. Hilliard's research is grounded in culturally responsive teaching, classroom management practices, teacher preparation, transition planning, mild-moderate disabilities and teaching the whole child.
Dr. Hilliard is actively involved in the community and is committed to continuing to be a lifelong learner. Dr. Hilliard is a member of many professional organizations, including the Council for Exceptional Children, the National Association of Special Education Teachers, the National Society of Leadership, Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of the Junior League of Memphis. Dr. Hilliard currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Instruction and Curriculum Leadership Department at the University of Memphis.
