Research
Housed within the School of Health Studies, the Human Performance Center consists of highly engaged investigators. Research through the Center spans from sport performance to health and injury prevention.
Facility
Bone Densitometry and Body Composition Laboratory
Richard J. Bloomer, PhD
The Bone Densitometry and Body Composition Laboratory provides investigators with the opportunity to measure both bone density and body composition using a state of the art dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) unit. This measurement can assist in enhancing our understanding of the relationship between bone density and body composition (body fat & lean tissue components) and various measures of physical performance and health. Testing is typically performed before and following a variety of interventions including exercise training, dietary modification, and nutritional supplementation.
