Herff Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP)

The VIP Consortium is a non-profit alliance established to support & promote the success of Vertically Integrated Projects (VIPs) in colleges and universities worldwide. In a Vertically Integrated Project, teams of undergraduate students collaborate with faculty and their graduate students on ambitious, long-term projects of mutual interest. Currently, there are more than 40 universities and 4,500 students participating in VIP programs worldwide. 

The University of Memphis Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) program has joined the VIP Consortium, the first to join in the state of Tennessee. The UofM-VIP program is part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) award, which is led by Dr. Chrysanthe Preza, Kanuri Professor and chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. It started this fall with two teams led by Dr. Preza, Kanuri Professor and chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, and Dr. Stephanie Ivey, associate dean for Research and professor in Civil Engineering.
